Jill McNair is an artist and an educator. Her background as an Art Therapist and Art Instructor has expressed upon her the connection between the creative art process and one’s imagining of a more hopeful future.

She studied Applied Social Sciences at the University of Guelph, Art Therapy at Western University and she holds a Bachelor of Education from York University. Her love of the natural world and her intention to seek physical and mental well-being has led her to her current body of work. Jill lives on the banks of the Petitcodiac River near Moncton, New Brunswick with her husband and her Yorkshire Terrier.

She can often be found seeking inspiration along the Atlantic coastline, beach combing, or hiking in one of the sensational Provincial or National parks.

Jill McNair est une artiste et une éducatrice. Son temps comme éducatrice et thérapeute et art lui permet de faire les liens entre sa créativité artistique ainsi que son optimiste pour l’avenir.

Jill a étudier en éducation à l'université de York, en sciences sociales à l'université de Guelph en thérapie d’art à l'université Western respectivement. Son amour pour la nature, son environnement et le désir d’atteindre un bien-être physique et spirituel lui a permis de réaliser son travail actuel. Elle habite sur les rives de la rivière Petitcodiac, proche de Moncton, Nouveau-Brunswick avec son mari et son chien.

On peut souvent la trouver en recherche d'inspiration surtout au long de la côte de l’Atlantique sur les plages et rives ainsi qu’en randonnées dans les parcs provinciaux ou nationaux de notre région.

In a previous life I was (a) ...

I was an Art Therapist and an Elementary School Teacher.

What do you listen to when you work?

When I'm working, I listen to both music and podcasts, most recently - the Spiritcatcher album by Dead Can Dance.

When I'm not making art, I'm (a) ...

I spend my time outdoors looking for inspiration - generally in Fundy National Park, or somewhere along the coastline of the Atlantic.

What kind of artwork do you have in your home?

I have on display in my home, carvings and paintings by other artists in my family.

How long have you been creating art?

I have been creating art professionally and full time for two years now, and otherwise for as long as I can remember.

Which piece of art you've created is your favourite, and why?

One of my favourite pieces I've created is titled, Komorebi. I was happy with both the composition and how I captured the magical quality of the landscape. It's also of a local outdoor attraction I frequent that brings me joy.
